Includes a scabbard. There are various stories about how Arthur came to possess the mythical sword.

The earliest account of how Excalibur was obtained is the one recorded by Geoffrey of Monmouth in *Historia Regium Britanniae*: When King Uther Pendragon died, Merlin forged a sword (Excalibur) on the island of Avalon (the island of the fairies) and embedded it in a stone next to a chapel in London. Arthur had traveled to the city with his adoptive father and brother and was to become a squire to his brother Cay. Arthur forgot Cay’s sword at the inn and went back to get it, but the inn was closed, so Arthur saw the Excalibur sword in the stone next to the chapel, took it, and gave it to Cay. When it was discovered that the sword was made of stone, the people proclaimed Arthur king.
